The Juneteenth Celebration is an opportunity for our Champaign-Urbana community members, students, parents, relatives, businesses, and organizations alike, to learn and celebrate African American freedom, culture, contribution, and achievement.
Our desired outcomes are:
- To develop a better understanding of diversity and culture
- To establish a more cohesive bond with all sectors of the Champaign – Urbana community
- To showcase our community’s talents, services, and opportunities
- To ease tension, distrust, and misunderstanding amongst different parts of our community
- To foster open communication for future collaboration
- To laugh, talk, eat, learn and grow while enjoying some good old-fashioned fun and entertainment together
The Juneteenth celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 12-3p, at Douglass Park 804 N. Fifth St, Champaign, IL 61820.
We are excited to have partnered with over 25 local businesses, community leaders, and individuals such as:
- Champaign County African American Heritage Trail

- Champaign Housing Authority

American Water will have the water truck for plenty of hydration and Burrito King will be in attendance with their food truck.
There will be live entertainment, bouncy houses, and face painting. raffles, and more
