I create self-portraits that capture everyday moments from my life and document them using oil paint. My work is a journal or time capsule that exemplifies the technology, fashion, and emotion of the time. As I visually chronicle the essence of my day-to-day experiences, I am creating a body of work that reflects how this time in my life has felt.
I use oil paint and bright, sometimes abstract colors. The medium allows me to explore subtle texture, as I make purposeful brushstroke marks in the paint on the canvas. Color is a powerful tool to influence the emotional character of a piece. My aim is to highlight the impermanence of the human experience and capture the viewerโs interest by using graphite and making the unnatural choice to not โpaintโ the whole painting. A painting can bring to life more subtle nuances that a photograph cannot. Each detail of the piece is carefully considered, adjusted, and crafted.
Works of the past become significant to us today partially because of their notable difference to our current state of living. Something we take for granted as mundane or ordinary will seem foreign to someone living years in the future. This becomes an important part of my work because I feel that spending time with moments you might normally process almost subconsciously can open up opportunities for introspection. I find myself constantly searching to know and understand myself better. Close inspection of a casual moment can offer a flood of information about the way a person perceives the world around them. Cultural and societal norms shift as years go by; even individual norms one holds onto on a personal level. At the heart of this change, a universal sense of feeling and connection must remain to capture the interest of viewers across time. I hope to channel the essence of human emotion, the little details of the present, and my personal experiences to connect with current and future generations.

I have always had a love for the natural world. It captivates me and inspires the artwork I create. My current fascination lies with the ocean and all aquatic life. However, I have yet to see the ocean in person. This makes the subject even more compelling to me. I see it as a metaphor for an exploration of the unknown. Within the ocean lies endless mystery and discovery. I gravitate towards beautiful, captivating imagery to convey how I perceive the ocean in my mind. I am deeply inspired by vibrant coral reefs and the way in which light moves through water. The way the light dances and refracts illuminates the underwater world in intriguing ways.
I create realistic oil paintings depicting the endless beauty of the underwater world while adding my own twist to it. I search for beauty in everything I create. I am drawn to the idea of the sublime and strive to convey that in my work. I aim to entice my viewers with the beauty and seduction of the ocean and allow them to join me in my exploration of the unknown. My pieces offer a glimpse into this vast unknown world that I have yet to discover.

As I work through the uniqueness of the human experience in small town USA, I have
learned to value the significance of my surroundings. This appreciation for the natural rhythm of nature and how humans are a part of it while also interrupting it has found its way into my art making unconsciously.
Oscillating between nonlinear narration and abstraction, my process becomes more
important than any specific reference. While the colors I choose are based on memories
of my external environment, how it all interacts is something that develops through a process based on instinct. I invite the viewer to engage with the chaotic accumulation of line and color and indulge in the lost feeling they might experience.
I use a wide variety of media to depict my constantly derailing train of thought through opposing linear and gestural elements. Incorporating collage throughout my practice gives me the freedom to follow my stream of consciousness wherever it may go.

As a Ghanaian contemporary sculptor, I make evocative figurative sculptures from wood and metal.
With meticulous attention to detail and through the intricate process of carving and welding, I create these figurative sculptures by merging both materials successively. Armed with tools like chainsaws, angle grinders, chisels, and gouges, I carefully cut and chip away at blocks of wood systematically revealing the essence of my sculptural vision. I then extend my artistic expression by fashioning metal objects such as locks, cage-like structures, and lanterns, and creating body adornments using Ghanaian traditional beads which I add to the wooden sculptures. I utilize a combination of graphite mixed with shellac and fuel to finish certain sections of my sculpture pieces. For other parts, I employ tung oil and walnut ink.
This work investigates themes of oppression, repression and emancipation, drawing from my personal experiences. I invite my audience to also reflect on their own experiences while imploring them to keep fighting for freedom from oppressive and repressive states and being an advocate and a pillar of support for others.
