SPRING CONCERTSย
March 22, 12-1p
Solideo Quartetย (Classical)
The Solideo Duo seeks to make music alive and accessible to all types of communities pulling from traditional to contemporary compositions. Committed to pursuing high standards in its interactions with music and audiences, Solideo aims to bring glory to God following the example of J.S. Bach. Soli deo Gloria. Today’s concert will feature special guest Beatrix Roque-Santana, a highly sensitive and passionate chamber pianist hailing from Hungary.
Jun Lee is a recent cello performance graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he was selected to be the inaugural graduate string quartet-in-residence as a member of the Solideo Quartet. He began his cello studies with Mary Beth Tyndall, completed his Bachelorโs of Music with Tom Landschoot at Arizona State University, and studied closely with Denise Djokic and Daniel McDonough (Jupiter Quartet) at the University of Illinois.
Jun has been the recipient of several awards, including the Young Artist Competitions of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Tucson, Rocky Ridge Young Artist Seminar, Tucson Cello Congress, and the Tucson Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist performing concerti with the Civic Orchestra of Tucson, Tucson Pops Orchestra, Rocky Ridge Young Artist Seminar Orchestra, Tucson Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and performed
The Swan with the Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker in Centennial Hall, Tucson AZ. Most recently, he has received first prize in the Delta Symphony National Young Artist Competition and the Schubert Clubโs Bruce P. Carlson Competition.
Equally as passionate about chamber music as concertos, Jun has performed and attended many chamber festivals as a member of the Solideo Quartet. Through performances in both everyday and unexpected places, Solideo aspires to bring humans together through music, that more people may discover shared emotional experiences and empathy for one another. Jun has attended the Music in the Vineyards, Centrum, Encore, Credo, Castleman, and HIMA music festivals. Jun plays on a 2021 cello made by Christopher Savino and an Arcus bow.
Violinist Heather Beckman seeks to share compelling ideas and connect to human emotions through chamber music. As a founding member of the Solideo String Quartet, Heather has helped bring classical and contemporary works to uncommon spaces and diverse audiences in order to promote empathy, conversation, and further access to live performances. Heather has Elementary Education and Music degrees from Carthage College, University of Miamiโs Frost School of Music, and University of Illinois. Her primary teachers are Nelson Lee, Megan Freivogel, Charles Castleman, Andrew Williams, and Jackie Fisher.
Heather has been invited to perform with the Menomonee Falls Symphony and Concord Chamber Orchestra in addition to the Carthage Philharmonic. She was a Henry Mancini Fellow and is currently in the graduate String Quartet in Residence at UIUC under the renowned Jupiter Quartet. The artistic director of Raise the Bar, a virtual mentorship program, Heather matches leading professional musicians with students who have little access to music education. She looks forward to teaching and sharing chamber music with communities in the years to come.
