Champaign Park District Seeking Information on Vandalized Trees
In recent weeks, Champaign Park District staff have identified a significant amount of damage to multiple trees around the city including Centennial Park and Douglass Park. This damage appears to be human-made and could result in the death of several trees that provide shade to our park-users and environmental benefits to our community.

Illini Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Tyler Underwood to Headline Champaign Parks Foundation Gala
The Ties & Tennies Gala (T&T) is excited to welcome Illinois Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Tyler Underwood as the guest speaker. In his role, Tyler assisted the 2025-26 team in their run to the Final Four.
Champaign Park District Recognized by National Pioneer Fields of Excellence® Program for the Second Consecutive Year
Champaign Park District announced that it has been recognized by the Pioneer Fields of Excellence® Program for the outstanding condition of its Dodds Softball Complex fields. This is the second consecutive year the Park has received this honor.

The Virginia Theatre
Champaign Park District is proud to own and operate the historic Virginia Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Champaign. The theatre originally opened in 1921 to house a variety of entertainment, including theatre, concerts, comedians, and movies. The theatre’s full restoration in 2013 has allowed it to continue its tradition of serving as a rich entertainment hub in the community.
