What Are Affiliates?
Affiliate groups are clubs and organizations that are sponsored by the Champaign Park District. Each group is financially self-sustaining, self governing, and over-seen by Champaign Park District staff. Call 217-398-2550 for information.
Carving Club
The Carving Club welcomes members of all abilities. Bring along your wood carving tools as there will be time for creating work.

Central Illinois Aerospace (Model Rocket Club)
Model rocket builders and launchers of all ages are invited to join the Champaign Park District’s Model Rocket Club. Membership fees are $10 for first family member and $2 for each additional family member per year. Memberships include informational meetings on rocketry, rocket building, workshops, scheduled rocket launches, and many more exciting activities.

C-U Astronomical Society
Explore the stars and planets with the C-U Astronomical Society, Inc. View the heavens through members’ telescopes or use the CUAS Observatory, located southwest of Champaign, and its 16-inch telescope. Membership fee is $15 per year (individual or family) which includes a monthly newsletter.

Get Licensed to Support Illinois Youth
The sale and subsequent renewals of each plate generate $25 for the PowerPlay! Beyond School Grant Program, which funds youth programs in park and recreation agencies throughout Illinois. The goal of the PowerPlay! program is to increase the number of opportunities designed to show youth the lifelong benefits of fitness, health, and nutrition.
Find out if the personalized license plate you want is available–immediately!
- Click on “Pick a Plate” in the middle of the screen.
- Choose the appropriate vehicle along the left side of the screen.
- Then choose “specialty.”
- Then choose “Park District Youth.”
- Then click on the logo that is appropriate–if you want a personalized plate click on “FLY 1”. If you want a vanity plate click on “PARK.”
- Type in your desired vanity or personalized plate message.
- Then click “submit” and instantly find out if that plate is available. (At this point, you are under no obligation to purchase this plate.)
- If the plate is available, and you would like to purchase the plate immediately, click “purchase” and follow the instructions.
