Bring out your creativity at the Martens Center, with the artists from Unveiled Creations for Grown Up and Me Paint. They will guide you to create beautiful canvas creations to take home. Each parent and child participant will create a canvas that will combine to make a larger picture.

Join members of the Champaign-Urbana Astronomical Society, Inc. on select Saturdays for an evening under the stars. See the stars and planets through the largest public telescope in East Central Illinois. All skywatch sessions are cancelled in the event of cloudy weather (visit cuas.org.). No registration required.

Story Trail starts near the splash pad/playground and is .18 mile long. This is a permanent Story Trail and will have changing books throughout the year! The current book at Hessel Park is “We’re Better Together: A Book About Community”.

Join us for our new Pickleball Leagues! Leagues are offered for all levels of play. These recreational leagues are structured to be competitive, yet recreational. Players have the ability to move up in skill level each season. Players in doubles/mixed leagues must register as a team. All matches are self-officiated. Illinois FC and the Champaign Park District offer Micro Soccer. Players should bring a soccer ball (preferably size 3), water bottle, and shin guards to each session. Soccer cleats are optional. The First Kicks classes introduce players to soccer in a fun-filled learning environment. Games and activities promote soccer skills and overall athletic development.
The Pre-K Micro classes introduce players to dribbling, passing, shooting, and coordination and body movement activities in a fun-filled environment. Games and practice activities promote soccer skills and overall athletic development.
The Kindergarten Micro classes prepare kids for the Youth Soccer League. Focus is on helping each player reach their potential in a fun-filled and challenging environment. Dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, decision-making, and creativity are emphasized. Team play is fostered through group exercises and small-sided matches.
The Soccer Academy class is for those players looking for a more challenging playing environment. This class will help bridge the gap between the recreational and competitive player by focusing on technique training and strengthening fundamentals.
Program has been moved from 8 weeks to 6 weeks to accommodate for potential weather-related cancellations. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED DUE TO WEATHER CANCELLATIONS. Reschedules will be made if possible.

No fees due at the time of registration & teams will be made if enough players are interested in the same league night. Free Agent Information is shared with registered captains at the beginning of the season to pull subs on their teams if needed!

En Garde! Add a new twist to your fall schedule by signing up for a six-week introduction to fencing! Participants will learn through footwork, drills, small group instruction, and open fencing with varied adult ages. Fencers should come dressed to work hard in loose clothing (no denim jeans) and tennis shoes. All fencing equipment is provided.

50 Plus!
Join our 50 Plus! program to socialize, adventure, and learn! Individuals aged 50+ living in Champaign-Urbana join for an annual fee of $30. Those outside of Champaign-Urbana pay $40. Non-members are always welcome to participate at the non-member (NM) fee, varies per program.
