Champaign Park District has announced a new middle school afterschool program at Douglass Community Center. The program, called The Spot, runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6:30pm and welcomes 6th through 8th-grade students to participate in a variety of art, technology, and fitness activities. Students can also access snacks and homework help.
The Spot has been introduced to assist with a growing need for afterschool care for preteen students. According to Terry Cole, Youth and Teen Program Manager at Champaign Park District, The Spot will “provide a safe, stimulating environment for community youth to spend time after school.”
The Spot has both membership and day pass options. For a school-year membership, students can pay $40. For a day pass, students can pay $3. In order to participate, students must have a signed waiver from a parent or guardian.
