Champaign Park District has announced that it has been awarded the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation “Sports Matter” Grant to support free programming for Champaign youth. The $20,000 grant was awarded in June and is taking effect with fall programming.

Programs like First String Basketball League and Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation’s fall Basketball, Bowling, and Cheerleading Programs will all be offered at no cost thanks to the grant’s support.
“We are so excited to provide increased access to sports and recreation through this substantial contribution,” said Sarah Sandquist, Champaign Park District’s Executive Director. “By removing the financial barrier this season, we hope to see even more families enjoy our sports programming!”
People interested in participating in First String Basketball and Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation activities can register online now at champaignparks.org/registration. Applicable programming will show $0 registration fee, but registration is still required to reserve one of the limited spots available. Free registration is limited to the current maximum number of participants listed on the activity page.
