This spring, Champaign Park District is inviting community members to participate in an open participation survey. The survey will give residents the opportunity to provide feedback on topics such as parks, facilities, program offerings, special projects, and more.
The open participation survey is the second phase of the Community Survey launched by the Park District in late 2025. Phase I, which began in December, consisted of a statistically valid survey sent to a random sample of Champaign residents. Both phases of the project are being administered and analyzed by Probolsky Research.
Notably, the Community Survey is part of a comprehensive planning strategy to improve and modernize Champaign Park District amenities and activities. In addition to the survey, the Park District has been conducting an ADA Audit and Transition Plan, a Facility Feasibility Study, and a Prairie Farm Master Plan Analysis. These reports are expected to be completed in Summer 2026. The Community Survey will ultimately link these studies to resident opinions, offering a detailed view of community needs.
“Champaign Park District is in a critical stage of information-seeking, and community feedback plays a vital role,” said Sarah Sandquist, Champaign Park District Executive Director. “Our elected Park Board of Commissioners will review the information and hold discussions about what a 10-year plan looks like for the Park District.”
Community members can take the survey at their convenience through the end of March. The survey can be found at: Champaign Park District – Parks and Recreation Survey – Open Link
