Champaign Park District has announced updates to its Rules and Regulations that will affect operating hours at certain parks.
The change creates consistency in park operating hours district-wide. Effective immediately, all Champaign Park District parks will be open from dawn to dusk. Park signs will be updated to reflect this change. Lighted sports amenities will close to the public each night from 11pm until dawn the following morning.
“Standardized park hours are essential for minimizing confusion and enhancing the overall experience of visiting local parks,” said Sarah Sandquist, Executive Director of Champaign Park District.
The following parks are affected by this change:
Bristol Park, Centennial Park, Clark Park, Glenn Park, Hessel Park, Human Kinetics Park, Johnston Park, Spalding Park, Scott Park, Skelton Park, and Zahnd Park.
The following amenities will now close at 11pm:
Centennial Park’s Lindsay Tennis Courts, Dexter Field and John St. pickleball complex, Dodds Park baseball and softball fields and soccer fields with lights, Douglass basketball courts, Hessel Park tennis, pickleball and volleyball courts, Spalding Park baseball field, tennis courts and basketball courts, Wesley Park basketball courts, and Zahnd Park baseball fields.
Facility hours were not affected by this change, and facilities adjacent to parks may be open past dusk.
