Champaign Parks Foundation announced today that it was awarded an American Water Charitable Foundation STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) Education grant to expand STEM activities at Champaign Park District.
The funds will be used for NextGen Maker Camp, a dynamic, hands-on STEM initiative designed for teens that blends 3D printing education with entrepreneurial skill-building. This camp will empower participants to transform their creative ideas into tangible products while fostering business insight to turn these innovations into real-world ventures. The new program will take place at Champaign Park District’s Martens Center.

The STEM Education grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S. It aims to support high-impact projects and initiatives that further American Water’s commitment to ESG, inclusion, diversity and equity.
