Park Safety Reminders:
The lack of rain and high temperatures have caused the grass in parks to begin to go dormant as a protective measure.
Due to these conditions, please remember:
1. Firework use in parks is illegal
2. Do not pour used charcoal into grass or at the base of trees
3. Do not flick cigarettes into grassy areas

Hessel Park Tree Walk
The purpose of the brochure is to provide opportunities for area school children and residents to learn about trees in central Illinois, and through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension, to provide residents with access to information about proper planting and care for featured trees.
Featured in this brochure are drawings provided by Jean Burridge, International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist, and descriptions of 36 of the more common species of trees that currently exist in Hessel Park.
