Paintings by Kory Twaddle and Phil Strang will be on exhibit at the Springer Cultural Center July 13 through August 24, 2019.
Twaddle is an artist from Kansas City, Missouri. Her body’s interactions and movements through familiar spaces inspire her abstract paintings that she refers to as “biograms”. Twaddle states her goal is to “present the body and its innards in an abstracted and playful way in efforts to examine how the body and the spaces it inhabits are intertwined both in reality and as conceptual architectures in the imagination”.
Strang, an Urbana resident, started exploring abstraction about five years ago. He starts many of his paintings with textured surfaces and is interested in creating “the illusion of randomness”.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. A reception will be held for the artists on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 5 – 6:30pm.
