Project Purpose

The playground redesign at Millage Park will prioritize updating and modernizing outdated equipment. The new playground will emphasize accessibility through features like pour-in-place surfacing.

Funding

The playground redesign is in part funded by a GameTime Community Champions Playground Grant.

October 3, 2025 Update:

Champaign Park District is asking residents to vote on a color palette for the new playground at Millage Park. The color options are Lagoon, Malibu, and Deep Space.

On Thursday, September 11, Champaign Park District invited community members to a public meeting to discuss the Millage Park playground replacement project. Attendees viewed playground options and voted for their favorites. The winner was option #1:

Attendees also voted on standalone features. The winner was the VistaTree Top:

The Champaign Park District Board of Commissioners will vote on approving the playground options on October 8. Construction will begin in spring 2026.

Attendees shared additional feedback on park amenities, such as adding a soccer goal. This will be addressed as a separate project.
