For the last 115 years, Champaign Parks have watched people just like you engage in connection, play, community, nature, belonging, and well-being. These experiences shape who we are and who we become.
This July, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is highlighting the Power of Parks in honor of Park and Recreation Month. We are joining in on the fun, too, as a tribute to our 115th anniversary.

What Is the Play Passport?
The Play Passport is a guidebook that will give you fun ideas to enjoy your local parks and amenities. From July 1-31, youth and adults alike can use the Play Passport to go on an epic adventure full of parks and recreation.
How Does It Work?
- Pick up a passport in-person at Leonhard Recreation Center, Martens Center, or Springer Cultural Center.
- Complete the “stops” listed in the passport to earn prizes.
- Mark which “stops” you have visited. Each “stop” you complete gets you closer to one of our three prize levels!
- Every time you reach a new level, show off your progress to our Play Passport Officials at Leonhard Recreation Center, Martens Center, and Springer Cultural Center to receive your prize!
“Stops” do not have to be completed in order to move up a level.
How Many “Stops” Do I Need to Complete to Get a Prize?
We have three levels of passport prizes:
Level 1: First Wings
Complete 4 passport stops to reach Level 1.
Level 2: Play Pro
Complete 8 passport stops to reach Level 2.
Level 3: Ultimate Fun-Haver
Complete all 15 passport stops to reach Level 3. Individuals who reach level 3 will receive our Grand Prize!
What Are the Prizes?
We want to keep some mystery in the game to keep it fun…but here are some clues:
A pencil for school, some stickers for fun, a bookmark for reading, a day in the sun.
Fun at the pool with sunscreen too, a box of chalk to make something new.
Short sleeves to stay cool, a fuzzy raccoon, a handy tote bag, and a blanket cocoon.
