Stay cool all summer long with the Champaign Park District!
From pool days and splash pads to shady parks and fun indoor programs, we’ve got plenty of ways to beat the heat and enjoy the season.
Hydrate
When temperatures rise, so does your risk of dehydration. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Take breaks in the shade, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat, and keep an eye on kids, seniors, and pets who may need extra care. Your body will thank you for staying cool and hydrated!
Cooling Centers
Multiple locations across Champaign County are opening their doors as cooler centers during this heat waves. Click below to see the full list!
Pets in the Park

During a heat advisory, sidewalks and pavement can get dangerously hot, hot enough to burn your pet’s paws in just seconds. If the ground is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet! Try walking your pets early in the morning or later in the evening when surfaces are cooler and always stick to grass when you can. Let’s keep our furry friends safe and cool this summer!
Sholem Aquatic Center
Sholem Aquatic Center is jam-packed with features that are guaranteed to make a splash: a zero-depth pool with play-and-spray features, an 8-lane 25-yard lap pool, a kiddie pool with slide, a tube slide that’ll send you into the lazy river, and enclosed body slides (must be at least 42” tall to ride).
