The Great Pumpkin Hunt Clues

Are you ready to solve clues to find pumpkins all over Champaign-Urbana? We’ve teamed up with Urbana Park District to hide pumpkins in the parks throughout October. Get your detective gear ready and see how many you can find! Because of the threat of squirrels, no real pumpkins will be harmed in this event. Instead we have painted pumpkins on indestructible surfaces….like rocks! Urbana Park District:

Just 6 more days to Halloween! Have you found all the pumpkins and other boo-tiful boulders? Creep it real with another clue for Urbana:

1) ANITA find a way to show you to this jack o’lantern, but I’m too busy climbing giant logs and boulders. Don’t fall into the sand pit, nature lovers.

October 23:

Urbana Park District:

More pumpkin clues for Urbana today. Tomorrow will for sure be a great day for pumpkin hunters!

1) Any stripe of boulder could be placed steps from both Nick Santi and Jean Driscoll, but this is one you’ll have to “go-SEE-bo” for yourself!

2) Don’t PHILLIP on lots of candy, or you’ll be too stuffed to detect this tiny pumpkin hidden at our main registration office.

October 17:

Urbana Park District:

Happy Saturday, pumpkin hunters! Have a couple clues to Urbana boulders:
1) There’s a wee pumpkin who’s giving a wink, in a garden for the senses, you’ll find it, we think! Giant ants keep guard nearby, to the south end of Urbana you’ll fly.
2) This scaredy-cat boulder CANaan be found at the tiniest park in town!
 

October 14:

Urbana Park District:

Head to the park in which Lincoln resides. Walk along the North side and interpret the signs.  Trick or treat yo’ self and the pumpkin you will find.

October 10:

Urbana Park District:
You’d be VICTORIOUS by sitting near the gardens watching the traffic pass by. This boo-tiful boulder will be the Main attraction this fall.
 
Head to the park in which Lincoln resides. Walk along the North side and interpret the signs. Trick or treat yo’ self and the pumpkin you will find.
 

October 8:

Champaign Park District:
Eek, Tone got scared!
Can you find this pumpkin, if you dare?
Oh, not to worry or feel a fright,
This pumpkin isn’t scary–only a delight!
Maybe you’ll see this when finding trees,
There are over 25 types, just you wait and see!
Instead of wishing for the splash pad,
You can celebrate Halloween–don’t be sad!
 

October 8:

Champaign Park District:
Tone is checking up on the monster of Frankenstein,
Phew, it turns out he’s just fine!
He’s just having some fun at his hidden spot.
It’s under a tree where the sun isn’t hot.
Where I am also rhymes with park,
And you know how much rhyming warms my heart!
If you’ve seen Hocus Pocus then you know,
That it’s a chocolate covered finger–not a dead man’s toe!
What was the name Mary mentioned there?
She said right after they left the master’s lair!
 

October 8:

Champaign Park District:
Can you find this one when out for a walk?
Put on your sneakers and comfy socks.
This one lies on a trail near Fox,
You might have to think a little outside the box.
For it’s not the most obvious of our rocks,
But somewhere sneakier than on your block.
When you see the haunted house don’t be shocked!
 

October 5:

Champaign Park District:
When you find this one try not to scream,
As you’ll find it’s not as scary as it may seem.
Don’t worry, those spiders are fake,
They’re just there for decoration sake.
Make sure you view this full image,
Since there’s another hint besides a place for frisbee scrimmage.
Maybe you’ll see it while riding your bike,
Or playing sports or out on a hike.

 

October 4:

Urbana Park District:

Happy Sunday! Here are two clues for Urbana pumpkins and other boo-tiful boulders:
1) This one has quite the “bark”. So he welcomes dogs to this NE Urbana Park.
2) Play a game of Bankshot Basketball and then head east. Look where the flowers sleep. Napping by the petals is the prize you seek.
 
Champaign Park District:
This pumpkin is tucked away in the prairie,
But don’t worry–it’s far from scary.
You can find it near a bridge that is green,
And where a red sculpture and lily pads can be seen.
You will also find a fun playground to play on,
So look for this jack-o-lantern–it’ll be here all October long!
 

October 1:

Champaign Park District:

It’s not quite Hogwarts where you’ll find this one,
But under this tree it will be safe from the sun.
Where it is on Elm Street is definitely no *nightmare*…
As you can see Tone is having a great time there!
Can you find Harry Potter tucked in this neighborhood park?
You better hurry if you want to see him before it gets dark!
