Want to test your internal fortitude and athletic ability? Then the Champaign Park District’s 36th annual Mini-Triathlon is for you! This chip-timed event will consist of 3 of the most popular fitness exercises in the world: swimming, running, and bike-riding. You will be tested with a 200-yard swim, a 6-mile bike ride, and a 2-mile run. Age categories for the male and female racers are: 14 & U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, and 60+.

1) Start off with a brisk 200-yard swim in the Sholem Aquatic Center lap pool. Jump out of the water on onto your bike.

2) Grab your helmet and bike for a quick 6-mile bike ride around beautiful Centennial Park (3 laps around the course). When completed, drop your bike.

3) Grab your running shoes for a 2-mile run to the finish line.

Racers will be divided into two categories: a competitive race group and recreational race group. Competitive racers will go first and will be placed in order of their estimated swim times for the 200-yard swim. Once they have been released, the recreational races will begin based on the order they signed up. (Please note: if you want to race with friends you need to sign up together in the recreational category to guarantee your start times will be next to each other.)

Information will be emailed out, and all bags and race gear can be picked up the morning of the event at the check-in table. Please provide a valid email address when registering. All participants will receive a dri-fit shirt, medal, and race bag containing many treats from the Park District! Good luck and have fun!

Registration will be accepted after the deadline if the race maximum is not met. Race shirts and bags are not guaranteed for those who register after the deadline.

Nano-Tri | Saturday, July 27 (following Mini-Tri)

A chance for your tots to “tri” a triathlon event. This miniest version of the Mini-Tri will consist of a 25-yard swim (lifeguard in water), a 1/2-mile bike, and a 1/4-mile run. Tots bring your bikes, bikes with trainers, or big wheels. Don’t forget your helmet (required)!
